The AhimsaScape Glossary

Our language defines our movement. A simple guide to the philosophy, ethics, and conscious principles behind every escape, including the curated vocabulary we share across our platforms.

A

Ahimsa(noun / ah-him-sah)

The ancient Sanskrit principle of non-violence/harm and dynamic, active compassion. For us, Ahimsa is not merely the absence of violence; it is the conscious presence of love, respect, and balance toward all living beings, cultures, and ecosystems.

AhimsaScape(noun / ah-him-sah-skape)

  1. The intentional blend of Ahimsa (compassion) and Escape (the ultimate freedom of travel and discovery).

  2. A travel sanctuary where exploration and ethical, plant-based living coexist seamlessly.

  3. The collective world we build when we choose to step away from the ordinary without leaving a heavy footprint behind.

AhimsaScaper(noun / Ah-him-sah-skay-per)

A mindful adventurer. A traveller who seeks deep cultural immersion, wild spaces, and premium experiences, while fiercely respecting the rights, freedom, and well-being of the animals and local communities they encounter. An AhimsaScaper is a dedicated participant in a journey curated by AhimsaScape, sharing in our commitment to leave the world better than we found it.

Usage: "I have packed my bags, my values, my curiosity and my passport — I am officially ready to be an AhimsaScaper”.😉

P

Plant-Based(adjective)

Our foundational culinary standard, representing a fully vegan lifestyle focused on absolute non-harm. It is the art of curating vibrant, plant-derived dining and hand-selected accommodations that honour both the traveller’s mindful lifestyle and the well-being of all living creatures.

Y

Yatra(noun / yah-truh)

A sacred journey or pilgrimage. Unlike a typical holiday or vacation, a yatra is an intentional expedition undertaken with mindfulness, designed to transform the traveller from the inside out while connecting deeply with the spirit of the destination.
